NEW RECORDING
I am going into the studio later this Fall to record my new album, to be produced by my husband Larry Klein. I have signed with Universal Jazz France - a wonderful label that is home to Salif Keita - and our release date is April of 2007. This is an album of modern American songwriting presented in the aesthetic setting of the late fifties and early sixties Brazilian Bossa Nova, with its melodic minimalism, structural clarity, and undeniable elegance and beauty. There are a couple of original songs that I wrote with Larry Klein, plus songs by Paul Simon, James Taylor, Randy Newman, and Joni Mitchell. The amazing band is comprised of Edward Simon, Romero Lubambo, Scott Colley, and Antonio Sanchez. More later...

AWARDS
OK, so we didn't get the Grammy for Duos II... but we got the nomination for Female Jazz Singer of the Year, by the Jazz Journalists Association, and got (for the second consecutive year) the award for Rising Star Female Singer by Downbeat Magazine. So sweet and I am so grateful...

SAN FRANCISCO PERFORMANCES
I am starting my second year of residency with San Francisco Performances. This is a four-year appointment and I am delighted to be able to go back to the Bay area and continue developing partnerships with schools, teaching music and poetry, and performing in different venues. I will be in San Francisco for one week, this Fall and Spring.

LAGQ
My collaboration with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet starts this October (see TOUR). The repertoire includes de Falla, Golijov, Marco Pereira, Hermeto Pascoal, and Rodrigo. We have performances in great venues such as Spivey Hall in Atlanta, and Zankel Hall in New York City. Check the tour page for dates.
