“O Grande Amore”
Jobim/Getz 100 Years
In celebration of the centennial of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz, Grammy-winning artist Luciana Souza has assembled an all-star jazz ensemble to honor two of the most influential artists in the Jazz pantheon, and celebrate their enduring contributions to Bossa Nova and Jazz.
Jobim remains unmatched as a composer and musical storyteller. As Frank Sinatra famously said, "Jobim must compose. Without him, we have nothing to sing.” John Coltrane, speaking of Stan Getz, remarked, "We'd all sound like that if we could."
Born just one week apart, with Jobim the elder of the two, their collaboration more than sixty years ago created music that remains timeless—music of extraordinary beauty and a rich landscape for improvisation and discovery.
Luciana has performed and recorded with McCaslin, Pinheiro, Simon, Colley, and Ribeiro, some for decades. Their deep musical relationships and shared history create a level of trust and camaraderie that allows for a dialogue rarely heard in contemporary ensembles.
